This the fourth HMS Royal James was a first rate, three deck,
100/90-gun ship-of-the-line.
Built at Portsmouth Dockyard, launched 1675, 163ft long, 45ft 6in wide, and of 1,486 tons builders measurement. Renamed HMS Victory 03-Mar-1691. Underwent Rebuild or Great Repair at Chatham 1695. Renamed Royal George 27-Oct-1714. Renamed HMS Victory again 09-Sep-1715. Burned by accident 1721. Dismantled Apr-1721.
