This the first ship to carry the name HMS Rhyl was a Bangor Class,
minesweeper. Built by Lobnitz of Renfrew, laid down 23-Nov-1939, launched 21-Jun-1940 and commissioned 09-Nov-1940. Sold 28-Sep-1946 and broken up at Gateshead. Won the Battle Honours: Dieppe 1942, English Channel 1942, North Africa 1942-43, Sicily 1943, Salerno 1943 and South France 1944.
