HMS Polyphemus (1782)  (1st)
3rd Rate 64-gun

    
This the first ship to carry the name HMS Polyphemus was a third rate, 64-gun ship-of-the-line.

Built at Sheerness Dockyard, launched 27-Apr-1782, 160ft long, 45ft wide and of 1,409 tons builders measurement.

Fought at the battle of Trafalgar where she suffered light damage with 2 of her crew killed and 4 wounded. (see: Fleets after the Battle).

Used as a powder hulk Sep-1813.

Broken up at Chatham by 15-Sep-1827.

Won the Battle Honours: Copenhagen 1801 and Trafalgar 1805.
