HMS Phaeton (1886) CC  (5th)

    
This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Phaeton was a 2nd Class Cruiser.

Built by Napier of Glasgow, laid down 14-Jun-1880, launched 27-Feb-1883 and completed 20-Apr-1886.

Served initially in the Mediterranean 1886-93, then returned to the UK at Devonport and went into reserve. Final active service was in the Pacific 1897-1903, after which it was back to the UK and harbour service at Devonport.

Sold 1913.

Became the training ship TS Indefatigable, Jan-1914 and renamed Carrack II 1941.

Broken up at Preston 1947.
