4th Rate 50-gun

    
This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Phaeton was a fourth rate, 50-gun,ship.

Built at Deptford Dockyard, launched 25-Nov-1848, 185ft long, 49ft 6in wide and of 1,942 tons builders measurement. Armed with 8 x 8in and 42 x 32pdr guns.

Converted to a screw frigate completed 12-Dec-1859 of 2,396 tons builders measurement.

Broken up at Chatham 1875.
