This the third ship to carry the name HMS Phaeton was a fifth rate, 38-gun, ship.

Built by Smallshaw of Liverpool, launched 12-Jun-1782, 141ft long, 39ft wide and of 944 tons builders measurement.

Sold 26-Mar-1828 for breaking up.

Won the Battle Honours: First of June 1794, Cornwallis' Retreat 1795, 'San Josef' 1800 and Java 1811
