This the ninth ship to carry the name HMS Penelope was a Leander Class frigate.

Built by Vickers Armstrong on the Tyne, launched 17-Aug1962.

Sold to Ecuador, handed over 25-Apr-1991 and renamed Presidente Eloy Alfaro.

Won the Battle Honour: Falkland Islands 1982.
