This the third ship to carry the name HMS Penelope was a fifth rate, 36-gun, ship.

Built by Parsons of Bursledon, launched 26-Sep-1798, 150ft long, 40ft wide and of 1,051 tons builders measurement.

Used as a troopship from 1813.

Wrecked 01-Jan-1815 in the St Lawrence River.

Won the Battle Honours: 'Guillaume Tell' 1800, Egypt 1801 and Martinique 1809.
