HMS Modeste (1945) SL  (6th)

    
This the sixth ship to carry the name HMS Modeste was a Modified Black Swan (1942), escort vessel (sloop).

Built at Chatham Dockyard, laid down 15-Feb-1943, launched 29-Jan-1944 and completed 03-Sep-1945.

On completion after the end of WW2, she served as a Gunnery Training Ship for a short time and then went into reserve and was used as an accommodation ship for sea cadets. This ended in 1950.

Remained idle until refitted in 1952 for service in the far East, which began Jan-1953. Remained there until late 1958 when she returned to the UK and again went into reserve.

Broken up at the Forth Mar-1961.

Won the Battle Honour: Korea 1953.
