This the ninth ship to carry the name HMS Meteor was an M
Class, destroyer. Built by Stephen, laid down 14-Sep-1940, launched 03-Sep-1941, and commissioned 12-Aug-1942. Most of her time was spend in the arctic and on Russian convoy escort. At the end of 1943 in company with HMS Matchless saw action against the German ship Scharnhorst. Feb-1944 sank U-315. Work in the Arctic continued until the end of 1944 when she was transferred to the Mediterranean and spent the remainder of the war around Italian waters. Won the Battle Honours: Arctic 1942-44, Atlantic 1942-43, North Africa 1942, Aegean 1944 and Mediterranean 1945.
