This the first ship to carry the name HMS Medusa was a fourth
rate, 50-gun, ship Built at Plymouth Dockyard, launched 23-Jul-1785, 140ft 6in long, 38ft 6in wide and of 910 tons builders measurement. Wrecked 26-Nov-1798 on the coast of Portugal.
