HMS Hermione (1896) CC  (2nd)

    
This the second ship to carry the name HMS Hermione was a second class cruiser.

Built at Devonport Dockyard, laid down 17-Dec-1891, launched 07-Nov-1893, and completed 14-Jan-1896.

On completion joined the 'Flying Squadron' 1896, then the Channel Fleet 1896-98. Moved to the China Station 1898-1901. Refitted at Malta 1901-02. Remained in the Mediterranean 1902-04.

Returned to the UK and went into reserve at Portsmouth 1904-07. To the Cape Station 1907-09.

Joined the 3rd Fleet 1910-12 during which she was used for airship trials 1909-13.

To the America & West Indies Station 1913-14.

Returned to the UK and used as a patrol vessel, depot ship at Southampton from 1914.

Burned out 1916 but remained in service.

Sold 25-Oct-1921 to Multilocular Ship Building Co; resold 180Dec-1922, and renamed Training Ship Warspite.

Resold Sep-1940 to Ward of Greys for breaking up.
