This the third ship to carry the name HMS Goliath was a Canopus Class (1899) battleship, laid down in
Jan-1897 and completed Mar-1900.
On completion Goliath served on the China station from 1900-1903. Then with the Channel, Home and Reserve Fleets until the outbreak of WW1. She took part in operations off Ostend early in the war before going briefly to the East Indies. In spring of 1915 she joined the Dardanelles force and was sunk by torpedoes from a torpedo boat on 13-May-1915. Won the Battle Honour: Dardanelles 1915.
