HMS Gloucester (1812)  (7th)
3rd Rate 74-gun

This the seventh ship to carry the name of HMS Gloucester was a third rate 74-gun ship.

She was built by Pitcher of Northfleet, launched 27-Feb-1812, 177ft long, 49ft wide, of 1,770 tons builders measurement.

In 1832 she was reduced to a fourth rate of 50-guns.

She had an uneventful career. The high point of which was to convey the Duke of Devonshire to St Petersburg in 1826 as Ambassador Extraordinary for the coronation of Czar Nicholas I.

Used for harbour service from 1861

Sold Mar-1884.
