This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Dartmouth was a fourth rate, 48-gun, ship-of-the-line.

Built by parker of Southampton, launched 03-Mar-1698, 131ft 6in long, 34ft 6in wide and of 681 tons builders measurement (bm).

Rebuilt at Woolwich 1741 as 856 tons bm.

Sunk 08-Oct-1747 in action against the Spanish ship Glorioso.
