HMS Daring (1952) DD  (6th)

    
This the sixth ship to carry the name HMS Daring was the lead ship of a class of eight destroyers.

Built by Swan Hunter, laid down 29-Sep-1943, launched 10-Aug-1949 commissioned 28-Jan-1952 and completed 08-Mar-1953.

On completion went to the Mediterranean where she helped with relief operations after an earthquake in the Ionian Islands, then undertook normal fleet operations. Returned to the UK Apr-1955.

Returned to the Mediterranean Sep-1955 and took part in the Suez invasion. Remained in the Mediterranean until Jan-1961 when she went into reserve at Devonport.

Completed a refit Apr-1963 and returned to Reserve.

To the Indian Ocean Jul-1967 to take part in the Beira patrol. Then to Singapore Oct-1967, Hong Kong Dec-67 and Australia Apr-68.

Acted as guardship at Gibraltar Aug/Sep-1968 and returned to the UK to be paid off.

Sold 26-May-1971, and arrived at Blyth for breaking up 15-Jun-1971.
