Wooden Screw Corvette 21-gun

    
This the third ship to carry the name HMS Charybdis was a 21-gun, wooden screw corvette.

Built at Chatham Dockyard, launched 01-Jun-1859, 200ft long, 40ft 6in wide and of 1,506 tons builders measurement, displacing 2,187 tons. Armed with 20 x 8in and 1 x 68pdr guns.

Loaned to the Canadian Government as a training ship Oct-1880 to Aug-1882.

Sold 1884 at Halifax.
