This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Centaur was a wooden, paddle frigate.

Built at Portsmouth Dockyard, launched 06-Oct-1845, 200ft long, 37ft 6in wide and of 1,269 tons builders measurement.

Took part in the Royal Fleet Review 1856.

Broken up at Plymouth Sep-1864.

Won the Battle Honours: Baltic 1855 and China 1860.
