HMS Camperdown (1889) BB  (3rd)

    
This the third ship to carry the name HMS Camperdown was one of five Admiral Class (1888) battleships.

Built at Portsmouth Dockyard, laid down in Dec-1882, launched 24-Nov-1885 and completed in 1889.

She was in the Mediterranean from 1889-90, and was Flagship for a brief time. Then moved on to the Channel as Flagship 1890-92. Returned to the Mediterranean 1892.

On 22-June-1893, during Fleet manoeuvres off Tripoli, collided with and sank HMS Victoria.

After repair and refit spent the rest of her time at home, either in Reserve or as a coastguard ship until 1908. Went to Harwich 1908-11 as a submarine accommodation ship.

Sold 11-Jul-1911.
