This the
fifth ship to bear the name HMS Victoria was a the name ship of a
class of two battleships. Built by Armstrong Mitchell, laid down Apr-1885, launched 09-Apr-1887 and completed Mar-1890. The delayed completion was due to delays in production of her 16.25in main guns. She went initially to the Mediterranean Fleet as Flagship in 1890. Ran aground in Jan-1892. Then refitted and repaired at Malta. Returned to the Fleet as Flagship of Vice-Admiral Sir George Tyron. Sank following a collision with HMS Camperdown on 22-June-1893, off Tripoli.
