This the second ship to carry the name HMS Ardent was a third rate, 64-gun, ship-of-the-line.

Built by Stares & parsons of Bursledon, launched 21-Dec-1782, 160ft 6in long, 45ft wide and of 1,387 tons builders measurement.

Caught fire and blew up off Corsica Apr-1794.
