HMS Apollo (1892) CC  (6th)

    
This the sixth ship to carry the name HMS Apollo was the name ship of a class of 21, 2nd Class Protected Cruisers.

Built at Chatham Dockyard, laid down Apr-1889, launched 10-Feb-1891, and completed 1892.

On completion remained in reserve at Chatham 1892-1901. Used as an RNR Drill Ship at Southampton 1901-04. Laid up at Portsmouth 1905-08.

Converted to a minelayer 1908-09. Served with a nucleus crew at Nore 1909-10, then Devonport 1910-11.

Served with a full crew with the 2nd Fleet 1912-14, then Dover minelaying squadron 1914-15, Sheerness 1915, Nore 1915-17.

Used as a depot ship at Devonport 1917-20.

Sold and arrived at Plymouth for breaking up Aug-1920.
