This the first ship to carry the name HMS Ajax was a third rate,
74-gun, ship-of-the-line.
Built at Portsmouth Dockyard, launched 23-Dec-1767, 168ft long, 48ft 6in wide and of 1,615 tons builders measurement. Sold 10-Feb-1785. Won the Battle Honours: St. Vincent 1780, St. Kitts 1782 and The Saints 1782.
