HMS Africa (1781)  (3rd)
3rd Rate 64-gun 

    
This the third ship to carry the name HMS Africa was a third rate, 64-gun ship-of-the-line.

Built by Barnard of Deptford, launched 11-Apr-1781, 160ft long, 46ft wide and of 1,415 tons builders measurement.

Used for harbour service Sep-1798.

Fought at the Battle of Trafalgar where she was badly damaged, with 18 dead and 37 wounded of her crew. (see: Fleets after the Battle).

Broken up at Portsmouth May-1814.

Won the Battle Honour: Trafalgar 1805.
