HMS Zambesi (1944) DD  (1st)

     
This the only ship to carry the name HMS Zambesi was a Z Class, destroyer.

Built by Cammell Laird, laid down 12-Dec-1942, launched 21-Nov-1943, and commissioned 18-Jul-1944.

On commissioning joined the Home Fleet and alternated Russian convoy escort with Norwegian carrier raids, until May-1945.

Continued in service after the war and arrived at Briton Ferry 12-Feb-1959 for breaking up.

Won the Battle Honours: Norway 1944 and Arctic 1945.
