This the sixth ship to carry the name HMS York was a third rate,
64-gun ship-of-the-line. Built by Barnard of Deptford, originally the East Indiaman, Royal Admiral, bought on the stocks and renamed. Launched 24-Mar-1796, 174ft long, 43ft wide and of 1,433 tons builders measurement. Foundered in the North Sea Jan-1804.
