HMS Wizard (1944) DD  (6th)

     
This the sixth ship to carry the name HMS Wizard was a W Class, destroyer.

Built by Vickers Armstrong of Barrow, laid down 14-Sep-1942, launched 29-Sep-1943, and commissioned 30-Mar-1944.

On commissioning formed part of the 27th Destroyer Flotilla, and from May-1944 took part in operations for Norwegian carrier raids.

Badly damaged by her own depth charges Jun-1944 and repairs took until Apr-1945.

Converted to a frigate 1954.

Arrived 07-Mar-1967 for breaking up at Ward of Inverkeithing.
