This the 1st ship to carry the name HMS Upholder was a U Class (1937) submarine.

Built by Vickers Armstrong at Barrow, launched 08-Jul-1940.

Sunk by depth charges 14-Apr-1942 by Italian torpedo boat Pegaso of Tripoli.

Won the Battle Honours: Malta Convoys 1941-42 and Mediterranean 1941-42.
