This the only ship to carry the name HMS Torquay was a Type 12 Whitby Class frigate.

Built by Harland & Wolff, launched 01-Jul-1954, commissioned 10-May-1956.

Appeared at the Silver Jubilee Review 1977.

Paid off Mar-1985.

Towed from Plymouth 01-Jul-1987 for breaking up at Barcelona.
