HMS Snipe (1946) SL  (6th)

     
This the sixth ship to carry the name HMS Snipe was a Modified Black Swan (1942), escort vessel (sloop).

Built by Denny, laid down 21-Sep-1944, launched 20-Dec-1945 and completed 09-Sep-1946 after the end of WW2.

On completion went to the America and West Indies Station and remained there until 1952.

Returned to the UK to serve with the Home Fleet, and went into reserve after the Coronation Review.

Remained in reserve until put up for disposal 1960.

Arrived at Newport 23-Aug-1960 for breaking up.
