This the first ship to carry the name HMS Seine was a 40-gun ship.

Originally French, captured 30-Jun-1798 by HMS Jason and HMS Pique in the English Channel. 156ft 6in long, 40ft 6in wide and of 1,146 tons builders measurement.

Armed with 8 x 32pdr carronades, 28x18pdr and 12x9pdr guns.

Wrecked 05-Jun-1803 off Texel.

Won the Battle Honour: 'Vengeance' 1800.
