HMS Sceptre (1802) (2nd)

The second HMS Sceptre, of the Repulse Class, was a third rate, 74-gun Ship-of-the-line. Built by Dudman of Deptford, launched 11-Dec-1802, 171ft long, 48ft wide and of 1,727 tons builders measurement. She participated in the capture and destruction of the
French Seine and Loire in Barque cove, Guadeloupe. Sceptre served for 6 years in the East Indies before transferring to the Caribbean. Her final years were spent in the Channel blockade of the French before she was finally broken up Feb-1821. Won the Battle Honour: Guadeloupe 1810. |
