This the first ship to carry the name HMS Ruby was a 48-gun, ship.

Built at Deptford, launched 15-Mar-1652, 125ft 6in long, 31ft 6in wide and of 556 tons builders measurement (bm).

Rebuilt at Deptford 1706 as 675 tons bm.

Captured by the French Ship Mars, 10-Oct-1707.

Won the Battle Honours: Dover 1652, Kentish Knock 1652, Portland 1653, Gabbard 1653, Scheveningen 1653, Santa Cruz 1657, Four Days' Battle 1666 and Orfordness 1666 .
