This the third ship to carry the name HMS Rochester was a prison ship.

Originally HMS Hero, a third rate, 74-gun, ship-of-the-line. Built at Plymouth Dockyard, launched 28-Mar-1759, 166ft long, 47ft wide and of 1,574 tons builders measurement.

Used as a prison ship from 1793, and renamed HMS Rochester 15-Sep-1800.

Broken up at Chatham Jul-1810.
