This the first ship to carry the name HMS Rochester was a fourth rate, 48-gun, ship-of-the-line

Built at Chatham Dockyard, launched 1693, 125ft 6in long, 32ft 6in wide and of 607 tons builders measurement (bm).

Rebuilt at Deptford 1715 as 719 tons bm.

Renamed HMS Maidstone 27-Sep-1744 and used as a hospital ship.

Broken up Oct-1748 at Woolwich.

Won the Battle Honour: Passero 1718.
