This the first ship to carry the name HMS Renown was a 20-gun
fireship. Originally French, the Renommee, captured Dec-1651 by HMS Nonsuch, renamed and converted. Sold 1654. Won the Battle Honours: Gabbard 1653 and Scheveningen 1653.
