Bomb Vessel 8-gun

    
This the first ship to carry the name HMS Racehorse was an 8-gun, bomb vessel.

Originally a French privateer (Marquis de Vandreville), 96.5ft long, 30ft wide and of 385 tons builders measurement. Captured 1757 and bought 28-Apr-1757.

Used for arctic discovery from 1773.

Captured Dec-1776 by American ship Andrea Doria.

Destroyed 15-Nov-1777 by Royal Navy in Delaware Bay.

Won the Battle Honour: Quebec 1759.
