This the third ship to carry the name HMS Phoebe was a second
class cruiser. Built at Devonport Dockyard, laid down 23-Apr-1889, launched 01-Jul-1890, and completed 01-Dec-1892. Went to the South Africa Station 1892-99, then returned to the UK at Devonport 1899-1901. After this went to Australia 1901-05. Returned to the UK and was paid off at Portsmouth 1905. Sold 1906. Won the Battle Honour: Benin 1897.
