This the second ship to carry the name HMS Obedient was an O
Class, destroyer. Built by Denny, laid down 22-May-1940, launched 30-Apr-1942, and commissioned 03-Oct-1942. On completion spent 1942 in Russian convoy escort work. At the end of 1942 in company with her sister ships Onslow, Obdurate and Orwell saw action against the German ships, Admiral Hipper and Lutzow, while defending a Russian convoy. Took part in Normandy landings operations 1944, then it was back to Arctic convoy duty until the end of the war. Continued in service after the war. Put into reserve Aug-1947. Appeared at the Coronation Review 1953. Arrived 19-Oct-1962 at Blyth for breaking up. Won the Battle Honours: Arctic 1942-45, Barents Sea 1942 Atlantic 1943 and Normandy 1944.
