This the second ship to carry the name HMS Obdurate was an O
Class, destroyer. Built by Denny, laid down 25-Apr-1940, launched 19-Feb-1942, and commissioned 03-Sep-1942. On completion spent 1942 in Russian convoy escort work. At the end of 1942 in company with her sister ships Onslow, Obedient and Orwell saw action against the German ships, Admiral Hipper and Lutzow, while defending a Russian convoy. Mar-1944 was hit by an acoustic torpedo and spent the remained of the war undergoing repair. Continued in service after the war. Put into reserve Feb-1948. Appeared at the Coronation Review 1953. Broken up 1964. Won the Battle Honours: Arctic 1942-45, Barents Sea 1942 and Atlantic 1943.
