This the ninth ship to carry the name HMS Mercury was a sixth
rate, 28-gun, ship. Built by Mestears on the River Thames, launched 09-Dec-1779, 121ft long, 34ft wide and of 594 tons builders measurement. Broken up Jan-1814 at Woolwich.
