This the second ship to carry the name HMS Lance was an L
Class, destroyer. Built by Yarrow, laid down 01-Mar-1939, launched 28-Nov-1940, and commissioned 13-May-1941. On commissioning served in Home waters and took part in the initial operations in the hunt for the Bismarck. Mid-1941 moved to the Mediterranean as part of the 13th Destroyer flotilla. 22-Oct-1942, while at Malta harbour was bombed and wrecked. Towed back to the UK 1944 to Chatham, declared a total constructive loss and sold for breaking up Jun-1944. Won the Battle Honours: Mediterranean 1941 and Malta Convoys 1941-42
