This the first ship to carry the name HMS Handy was a Clown class, 2 gun, wooden screw gunboat.

Built by Pitcher of Northfleet, laid down 05-Mar-1856, launched 31-May-1856 and completed 26-Jan-1857.

Sold May-1868 at Lagos.
