This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Dragon was a 38-gun ship.

Built at Chatham Dockyard, launched 1647, 120ft long, 28ft 6in wide and of 414 tons builders measurement (bm). The first ship to be built at Chatham Dockyard.

Rebuilt at Deptford 1690 as 479 tons bm.

Rebuilt again Cuckold's Point 1707 as 719 tons bm.

Wrecked at Alderney 15-Mar-1711.

Won the Battle Honours: Kentish Knock 1652, Portland 1653, Gabbard 1653, Scheveningen 1653, Lowestoft 1665, Four Days' Battle 1666, Orfordness 1666, Bugia 1671 and Barfleur 1692.
