This the first HMS Devonshire was a third rate, two deck, 80/72-gun
ship-of-the-line.
She was built by Wyatt of Burleson, launched 05-Apr-1692, 154ft long on the deck, 129ft 11in long at the keel, 41ft 5in wide, 17ft 4in depth in the hold and of 1,158 tons builders measurement (bm). She carried an establishment of 80-guns and 500 men in time of war in home waters, or 72-guns and 355 men in peace or war overseas. Rebuilt 1704 when her tonnage increased to 1,220 tons bm. Blown up 10-Oct-1710 while in action with the French off the Lizard. Won the Battle Honour: Barfleur 1692.
