Wooden Screw Sloop 6-gun

    
This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Danae was a 6-gun, screw sloop.

Built at Portsmouth Dockyard, launched 21-May-1867, completed Nov-1867, 212ft long, 36ft wide and of 1,287 tons builders measurement, displacing 1,760 tons. Armed with 2 x 7in and 4 x 64pdr guns.

Re-rated 1876 as a corvette and re-armed with 12 x 64pdr guns.

Loaned to the war department 1886 as a hulk.

Sold 15-May-1906.
