This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Castor was a Light
Cruiser. Built by Cammell Laird of Birkenhead, laid down 28-Oct-1914, launched 28-Jul-1915 and completed 12-Nov-1915. On completion served as a destroyer leader with the Grand Fleet 1915-16. Then Commodore (D) Grand Fleet 1916-19. Then Commodore (D) Atlantic Fleet 1919-20, including a spell in the Black Sea 1919-20. Joined the 2nd Light Cruiser Squadron Atlantic Fleet 1920-23. Served as Gunnery training Ship 1927-28 at Portsmouth 1923-24. Into reserve 1924-27 during when it refitted 1925-26. Used for trooping duties to China 1927-28. Detached to China 1928-30. Returned to the UK and went into reserve 1930-35. Sold 1935. Won the Battle Honour: Jutland 1916.
