This the third ship to carry the name HMS Cassandra was a Ca
Class, destroyer. Built by Yarrow, laid down 03-Jan-1943, launched 29-Nov-1943, and commissioned 28-Jul-1944. In Nov-1944, formed the 1st Division of the 7th Destroyer Flotilla as part of the covering force of convoy JW62. 11-Dec had her bows blown off by torpedo from U-365 but reached Murmansk where temporary repairs were made. Brought back to home waters, then on to Gibralter where she was fully repaired late 1945. At the end of WW2 the flotilla went to the East Indies. Then into reserve 1946. Mid 1950's modernised and rebuilt for ASW duties. paid off 1966 and arrived at Inverkeithing 28-Apr-1967 for breaking up. Won the Battle Honour: Arctic 1944.
