This the second ship to carry the name HMS Carlisle was a fourth rate, 48-gun, ship-of-the-line.

Built at Plymouth Dockyard, launched 1698, and of 709 tons builders measurement.

Blown up by accident 19-Sep-1700 at The Downs.
