Steel Screw Corvette 16-gun

    
This the sixth ship to carry the name HMS Calypso was a 16-gun, steel screw corvette.

Built at Chatham Dockyard, launched 07-Jun-1883, 235ft long, 44ft 6in wide and displacing 2,770 tons. Armed with 4 x 6in and 12 x 5in guns.

Used as a training ship by the Newfoundland Government 02-Sep-1902. Renamed Briton 15-Feb-1916.

Sold 07-Apr-1922.
